Australian Music Events is proud to present mezzo-soprano, ROXANE HISLOP, tenor JAMES EGGLESTONE and Australia’s international instrumentalist, SLAVA GRIGORYAN. They will be joined by 100 voices and 50-piece orchestra led by one of Australia’s finest conductors, BENJAMIN NORTHEY. The evening will also showcase the talented Australian Vocal Scholars.

Staged on the picturesque grounds of La Trobe at Beechworth, Opera in the Alps is a magical evening of classical favourites that has become established as one of regional Victoria’s cultural highlights.

Fine regional food and wine will be sold through outlets prior to the concert commencing.

For something different, The Premium Package is the perfect way to experience Opera in the Alps and we welcome patrons to indulge in the two-course pre-concert dinner accompanies by fine wines from Brown Brothers. The dinner takes place on the lawns of the Pines Convention Centre which command a breathtaking view of the concert setting. Dessert will be served at interval.

The Beechworth Romance Festival is an exciting and innovative new event that will be held on Valentine’s Day 2009 and be marketed as Beechworth: The Valentine’s Day Destination. The event will be held in the gardens at La Trobe at Beechworth, as well as in the Beechworth central business district, The Romance Festival will provide lovers of all ages to engage with their partner in a number of romantic ways.

Valentine’s Window Displays - Businesses in Beechworth will have the opportunity to be part of the festival by decorating their shops in hearts and other symbols of romance.

Wedding Proposals - In the spirit of romance, lovers will be able to propose marriage in the main street of Beechworth, to take place during the morning of the festival.

The Long Lunch - The beauty of the avenue through La Trobe at Beechworth will host The Long Lunch through the afternoon of Valentine’s Day, splendid food & wine in a beautiful setting.

Romance Festival Expo - Kerferd Convention Centre will host a Romance expo, where lovers and romantics can gaze at the wonders of local produce, ranging from wine to flowers or whatever contents the heart.

Renewal of Vows - Whether you have been married for 7 days or 70 years, lovers will be able to melt one another’s hearts when they renew their vows at the Chapel, La Trobe at Beechworth.

The Love Song Concert - Romantics will have their heart strings played during the late afternoon and early evening, as they listen to love songs performed by local performers and a very special guest.

Romance Films - Following the Love Song Concert, hosted by our very own John Walker, lovers will be able to enjoy a picnic basket filled with delights, and lay back and watch romantic films under the stars over Beechworth. The weekend will also provide the opportunity for short films to be made in Beechworth and its beautiful surrounds, launched by our special guest on the Saturday afternoon.

Lover’s Lanes and Garden Walks - Lovers will be able to enjoy the spaces and hidden secrets of the lanes and gardens of La Trobe at Beechworth, with a photographer available to capture you in the moment.
