Beechworth Post Office - Ford St
Completed in 1870 at a cost of 3,700 pounds the building replaced a former Post Office destroyed by a major town fire in 1867.

HM Prison Beechworth - Sydney Rd
The Sydney Road site ceased operation as a functioning prison in 2004. The prison now operates at a new site in Malakoff Road. The Sydney Road structure was built in 1859 and completed in 1864 at a cost of 47,000 pounds.
This magnificent site has been sold to a developer who is yet to release any information on their plans.
Miner’s Hut - Camp St
Built by the National Trust, this traditional slab hut of the gold days is now a private residence.
Powder Magazine - Camp St
Built in 1859 to store dangerous blasting powder to mine the quartz, the magazine was faithfully restored in 1966.
Historic Ford Street
Excellent examples of gold rush buildings in this 19th century street include hotels and old banks.
Town Hall & Shire Offices - Ford St
Construction of Council offices finished in 1858 with the rear hall shortly afterwards. Front offices were re-built in 1888.
Beechworth Court House - Ford St
House Built in 1853 at a cost of 3,730 pounds, this court house saw many historic trials including those of Ned Kelly and mother Ellen.
Carriage Museum - Last St
This National Trust project is a fascinating collection of horse-drawn vehicles of the 19th & 20th century. Housed in one of Beechworth’s operational breweries.
Ovens District Hospital Facade - Church St
Possibly the most photographed landmark in Beechworth. This stark facade keeps a silent, sorrowful vigil over the now empty site of Beechworth’s first hospital built in 1857 at a cost of 2,347 Pounds. Sadly, most of the hospital was demolished in 1940 for salvageable materials during the second World War. All that remains today is the granite facade and remnants of the once extensive and grand gardens including magnificent specimens of Bunya Pine and Californian Redwood.
Burke Musuem - Loch St

Beechworth Cemetery - Balaclava Rd
The cemetery provides a fascinating insight into the people that helped to create Beechworth. Used for special ceremonies, The Chinese Burning Towers are particularly interesting.
Town Hall Gardens - Ford St
These historic gardens date from 1875 with trees given by noted botanist Baron Ferdinand Von Mueller. A graceful late nineteenth century fountain still dominates this peaceful park, which is adjacent to the Historic Precinct and Burke Museum.
Queen Victoria Park - Sydney Rd
Queen Victoria Park was named in 1902. It is a popular picnic spot with barbecue and public amenities. The park was the site of Beechworth’s first bowling green and outdoor picture theatre. The two canons located on the mass of stone (granite outcrop) were a gift to celebrate the Australia’s Federation in 1901.
